Valley Hush — “Children”

It has only been eight months since producer Alex Kaye and vocalist Lianna Vanicelli, operating as electro-pop duo Valley Hush, released their promising EP To Feel Small. Their most recent single, “Children,” off their upcoming EP Don’t Wait, shows the group have been busy since and indicates their excellence continues to grow.

Vanicelli’s ethereal singing floats effortlessly over Kayes’ poppy production, which features plenty of bubbly synth. Though it sounds like it should be the feel-good hit of the summer, the quirky stylings of Vanicelli and Kayes are juxtaposed with the heavy-hitting nature of the lyrics.

According to the band, “This song reflects on the frustrations of witnessing the struggle of youth in today’s society,” which definitely maintains the assertion they made in their interview with DMM back in February, when they said that their songs would be “a little more focused on more important issues.”

Don’t Wait drops June 6, and you can catch the release show at the Majestic Café, featuring performances from Jamaican Queens and Little Animal. In the meantime, you can listen to “Children” below:
