Michigan-based production house Never Say Die MI has released the first video from The Living Room Sessions Vol. 2 (a music video and recording series focused on intimate performances – this time in Detroit) which features a live performance by Jamaican Queens.

Organizers, producers, and associates of The Living Room Sessions includes: Leah Castile (lead content creator), Tifini Kamara (production manager), Jenn Headley, Andrew Davis of SMPLFD Clothing, camera operators Dallas Carney, Nicole Shackleford and Jax Anderson of Flint Eastwood. Surprise guests of the event included video production duo The Right Brothers and others.

“It’s no secret the effect live-sessions can have on a music fan,” Kamara said. “Detroit doesn’t create these opportunities often, but what we’ve done is we’ve brought together a fantastic group of people and Jamaican Queens absolutely blew us away.”

Never Say Die MI executed a March 8 filming marathon for the entire TLRS 2 (Detroit) project. The series is set to include music recordings and coinciding live music videos from some of Detroit’s favorite acts, including: Jamaican QueensMexican Knives, James Linck, Christopher Jarvis, and J. Walker & The Crossguards. This one-time concert was held at the home of a local-music tastemaker in the Woodbridge neighborhood of Detroit, with a limited number of pre-approved attendees permitted access.

Never Say Die has released the first visual piece associated with the event, featuring Detroit pop/trap/indie giants Jamaican Queens, in an intimate live performance of their 2013 Wormfood track “Caitlin,” which is performed with the clarity and depth of a studio recording. With on-site engineering from award winning sound guru Ezra Bakker, Jamaican Queens’ sound is powerful, but their organic surroundings supply the complete honesty of a live performance.

“The Living Room Sessions Vol. 2 was a great experience to film,” Castile said. “We wanted to do something really special for the Detroit-based production, this exceeded our expectations. ‘Caitlin’ is the perfect video to release first because it captures the overall personality of the product.”
