Sir Richard Branson loves Detroit.

The British entrepreneur just announced direct flights to and from Detroit Metro to London Heathrow via his own Virgin Atlantic airlines. The maiden voyage of this new route featured celebrity passengers, including Mr. Branson himself, as well as the cast of “Motown: The Musical.”

As passengers embarked from London to the Motor city, the cast of “Motown: The Musical” broke out in an impromptu rendition of The Temptations’ 1966 classic “Get Ready.”

That’s not all Richard has in store for Detroit. The business magnate expressed his respect and appreciation for the city’s creative and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as his eagerness to become a part of the city’s blossoming future.

During his time in Detroit, he will throw first pitch at the Tigers game today against the Indians, host an event at CCS (where he will be listening to pitches from various Detroit start-ups alongside local investors) and join Detroit’s infamous “Slow Roll” bike ride.
