Jack White and Ben Blackwell of Third Man Records have released a video outlining the groundbreaking features of the whimsical new vinyl release of Lazaretto, referred to as the “ULTRA LP.”

In addition to updated track versions, and both a matte and gloss finish (one for each side), the album contains several never-before-seen features, which are explained by White and Blackwell.

The release will include the following features:

  • Two unheard tracks which can be found under the vinyl record’s center labels (labels do not have to be peeled off before playing)
  • Three different turntable speeds are used throughout the album
  • “Just One Drink” (Side B) contains two separate recordings; one electric and one acoustic (The two eventually combine to make one song)
  • Vinyl pressed in seldom-used flat-edged format
  • Dead wax area on Side A contains a hand-etched angel hologram by Tristan Duke of Infinity
  • Light Science, the first of its kind on a vinyl record
  • Zero compression used during recording, mixing and mastering
  • Different running order from the CD/digital version
  • Side A will be played outward from the inside groove until reaching a repeating groove

At the very affordable price of $20, fans have a lot to look forward to on June 10, when Lazaretto sees official release. Pre-orders for the “ULTRA” version are available here. Jack White will be performing at the Fox Theatre on July 28 and at the Masonic Temple on July 30. Listen to the title track from Lazaretto here.
