Josh Smith and Josh Freed of Detroit-based cosmic-trap duo Gosh Pith have released their first original track since the debut of their Window EP in May. Clocking in at just over two minutes, “Gold Chain” epitomizes short but sweet.
The song begins with minimalist, strumming guitar chords accompanied by the punctuation of a sparse drum machine, reminiscent of the opening progression of their first single “Waves.” Smith’s heartfelt speak-singing gives the track an almost R&B vibe, while Freed’s lush production ushers in the chorus, building to a luxurious, dreamy declaration of devotion.
Josh-squared have crafted the perfect modern-day love song, a sentimental yet not overly syrupy admission of affection. This mellow track is the perfect accompaniment to a chilly Michigan day spent staying up late with #bae.
