For eighteen years now, the Metro Times Blowout has been one of the premiere showcases for local talent in the greater Detroit area. Guaranteeing this year will be the most insane party yet, Andrew WK will return to his home state to headline one night, as well as definitive hardcore act Fucked Up. If you wish to avoid blood-sweat-spit splatter, you may want to take a step back during these performances. Legendary garage rockers Black Lips will also make an appearance, along with new critical darlings Alvvays playing their signature fuzzy grunge-pop.

From its inception in 1997 as the Hamtramck Blowout, the event has since grown to include Detroit and Ferndale as well. In recent years, these additional locations have had their own weekends, but 2015 will see a four-day, non-stop festival comprising nearly every venue and dive bar in these three cities. Hundreds of performers from every genre imaginable will play from April 29 – May 2, with some looking for their big break and others just looking for a good time. Fans will be made, bands will be scouted, and a lot of Stroh’s cans will be recycled.

The eighteenth Metro Times Blowout will also feature the punk-pop of Pup and The Arkells’ pop-rock, with over 200 other acts yet to be announced. Advance wristbands are available now for $20, allowing entry to all shows over the course of the event.
