Late last week, Jack White’s Third Man Records announced the release of Bathtub Love Killings, the first full-length album from St. Clair Shores native Olivia Jean, due out on October 14 of this year.

Jean, a multi-instrumentalist who got her start making music with the surf rock band Idée Fixe, first caught White’s attention after a secret Dead Weather show at the Magic Stick, when she handed the Motor City icon a recording of her demos. Since that fateful day, she not only followed White down to Nashville but has played in his backing band.

On top of her session work for Jack White, Jean has played with the touring bands for both Karen Elson and Wanda Jackson, as well as fronted Black Belles. She has also appeared on The Colbert Report, Conan, Late Show with David Letterman, and The Grand Old Opry in addition to having one of her songs used as the theme for television’s Elvira’s Movie Macabre.

Bathtub Love Killings is produced by Jack White, with Jean playing nearly every instrument on record. The album promises to showcase the young artist’s songwriting talents and will be available on LP, CD, and digital. Third Man Records will also release a limited edition lavender vinyl version.
