Isaiah “Ikey” Owens, keyboardist for Detroit rocker Jack White’s backing band, was found dead this morning in his Puebla, Mexico hotel room. According to a Facebook post from Jack White, “Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled.”

News of Owens’ death was first reported by Mexican publication Periodico Digital, who state that authorities found drugs and alcohol in the musician’s room. The exact cause of death still remains under investigation at this time.

Prior to joining The Buzzards — Jack White’s all-male touring band — in 2012, Owens performed with The Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and Crystal Antlers as well as bands from Long Beach, which he was a native of.
