SHADES release a scathing remix of Danny Brown’s “Lie4”

SHADES

Danny Brown’s 2011 album, XXX, is still being rinsed out on speakers around the world. As proof, earlier this week the track “Lie4” received a scathing remix from new duo SHADES, which comprises Belgian drum’n’bass savant Alix Perez and Bay Area hip-hop producer Eprom. This unlikely partnership has yielded a unique blend of gritty, genre-bending bass music.

The Detroit emcee’s razor-sharp delivery lends itself perfectly to SHADES’ talents. Their update warps his vocals before dropping a massive bassline. The highly dynamic track builds from downbeat dubstep to midtempo glitch-hop. It’s easy to picture Brown spitting this late at night at The Works or at The Warehouse project in Manchester.

For more of SHADES, check out their debut self-titled EP, which came out this summer. As for Danny Brown, he’s wrapping up a tour with A$AP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator, and Vince Staples, but you can catch him in Detroit for the second annual Bruiser Brigade Thanksgiving.
