Last year, Seraphine Collective — a Detroit-based community of female-identified musicians and artists — hosted BFF Fest at the Trinosophes café, gallery, and performing arts space in Eastern Market. The result was a progressive, one-day event that highlighted women, people of color, and LGBTQ performers.

BFF Fest is happening again this year on Saturday, July 25, with 2015’s edition being held at MOCAD in Midtown Detroit. The festival boasts a strong bill headlined by R. Ring (featuring frontwoman Kelley Deal), as well as food vendors, a resource fair, and a clothing swap.

The night before the festival, Seraphine Collective will host a pre-party at the UFO Factory in Corktown. Performers include local favorites Rebel Kind, Casual Sweetheart, and Double Winter. Alice Bag of legendary punk band The Bags will also be in attendance, reading from her new book Pipe Bomb for the Soul and performing as well.

As if that weren’t enough, the pre-party will also serve as the Collective’s first open-call art show. For more details, including how to submit work, visit the Facebook event page.
