Back on January 8, 2015 (what would have been Elvis’ 80th birthday), an unnamed Internet buyer purchased an acetate disc containing Elvis Presley’s original recordings of 1930s ballads “My Happiness” and “That’s Where the Heartaches Begin,” for $300,000 from a Graceland auction.

Now, according to an interview in Billboard magazine, the unnamed buyer has a name – Jack White.

The historical Elvis recording was made on July 18, 1953, at a Memphis studio, and gifted to Elvis’ friend Ed Leek. Leek, who supplied the $4 for Elvis’ recording fees, eventually passed the 10-inch acetate recording on to his daughter, who put it up for auction this year – starting the bids at $50,000.

After coming forward as the mystery buyer of Elvis’ first-ever recording, White announced that his Nashville-based record label Third Man Records would reissue the two tracks on vinyl, April 18, 2015 – the nationally-recognized music holiday known as Record Store Day.

Yesterday, Jack White visited the Detroit Tigers at their training facility in Lakeland, Florida. See a photo of his visit below:
