As a follow-up to the 2008 compilation co-release Ghostly Swim, both Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim cable network and Detroit-area record label Ghostly International have announced the project’s second installment.
Ghostly Swim 2 will be available to Ghostly International and Cartoon Network listeners as a free download, much like its first edition, on December 23. The 13-track compilation is being labeled as a relaxing holiday mixture of “wayward ambient and seasick house.”
Ghostly Swim 2 contributing artists will include: Detroit electronic powerhouse Shigeto, Ann Arbor-native act Pascåal, Lord RAJA, Heathered Pearls, Babe Rainbow, CFCF and others.
Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim cable network has a long history with underground/alternative music – most famously utilized during network “bumps” (slides shown between commercials and scheduled programming.) These slides have been known to feature countless independent label artists – especially Stones Throw Records acts (such as Detroit’s legendary producer J Dilla, Madlib and Oh No), due to Adult Swim’s official partnership with the label.
