Detroit’s favorite street festival Dally in the Alley returns for its 39th year in 2016, promising outdoor fun, music, and even some kids-focused activities in the Cass Corridor.

Since 1977, the volunteer-driven festival has provided local music on multiple stages, in addition to booths featuring area artists, and food and retail vendors. Dally in the Alley is nothing new to residents of Midtown (specifically, between Third St. and Forest St., and Hancock St. and Second St.); however, this year’s focus will be placed on scale and capacity.

After a power transformer exploded in 2014 (ending the festival early), followed by a record attendance year in 2015, Dally is returning to its local roots. According to organizers, the neighborhood festival rejected multiple sponsorship offers for the 2016 event and have purposefully provided less promotion in an attempt to “scale down.” Organizer estimates for last year’s Dally in the Alley attendance fluctuate between a whopping 50,000 and 60,000 attendees.

This year, Dally will feature five stages nestled in the historic streets of the Cass Corridor and a barrage of local food vendors, including Motor City Brewing Works beer and wine. Notable local acts include The ERERs, Odd Hours, K9 Sniffies, RV Mendoza, Caveman & Bam Bam, The Kickstand Band, and more.

Dally in the Alley is open to all ages Saturday, September 10, from 11a.m. – 11 p.m.  Learn more by visiting the event’s official website.
