Black Milk provides production on latest Cannibal Ox track

Curtis Cross, better known as the Detroit-based MC and producer Black Milk, has produced the new single from underground NYC hip-hop duo Cannibal Ox. “Blade: The Art of the Ox” is off of Vast Aire and Vordul Mega’s upcoming, highly anticipated sophomore album, Blade of the Ronin, their first project since 2001’s The Cold Vein.

 

The song proves that despite a decade-and-a-half break, Cannibal Ox have not lost their edge. The pair’s collaborative, trade-off rapping — with verses thrown in by Artifacts and U-God — features a consistent flow that is exceptionally complemented by Black Milk’s signature soulful production and beats. A steady rhythm drives the track forward and is punctuated by occasional scratching, vocal samples, and guitar twangs.
