Big Sean celebrates homecoming with Eminem, Dej Loaf, more

Big Sean returned home Friday for an over-the-top homecoming performance that Detroit will never forget.

The aptly named one-night concert “Finding Paradise: Live in Detroit,” a play off of his 2015 album title Dark Sky Paradise, boasted appearances by hometown heroes Eminem, Dej Loaf, Royce da 5’9″, Danny Brown, Mike Posner, and Trick Trick, in addition to Lil Wayne and Jhene Aiko. On top of the flurry of special guests, Big Sean pledged all proceeds to his Sean Anderson Foundation, which focuses on the “education, health, safety and well-being of Detroit Area school aged youth.”

After an overwhelming 2012 performance at The Palace of Auburn Hills and a triumphant 2013 show at DTE Energy Music Theatre, the 27-year-old rapper’s “Finding Paradise” performance finally landed him in the heart of the city. Big Sean touted his return in true Detroit fashion, donning a Detroit Red Wings jersey and a Tigers baseball cap in front of a stage set resembling a Detroit block.

At the end of his 36-song set and first encore, the Cass Tech alum proclaimed, “Detroit — this is the best day of my life.”
